Tonkünstler-Orchester
Schubert/Widmann/BrahmsDescription
The Tonkunstler Orchestra has been regularly and enjoyably collaborating with Jun Märkl since 2010. The result often involves the rare and the popular, the old and the new in a balanced blend, always captivatingly presented. This time, for example, Johannes Brahms’s Second, created during a summer retreat on the shores of the Wörthersee; music that’s reminiscent of a sunny day after a night of storms. This is complemented by violin virtuoso Carolin Widmann with a charming polonaise by Franz Schubert – and with the concerto that her brother Jörg Widmann tailor-made for her in 2018. Over three movements, the violin starts by seeking itself, before singing a ballad and finally letting the sparks fly in a perpetuum mobile.
