About the Festspielhaus
The Festspielhaus in St. Pölten
The Festspielhaus St. Pölten is a place of active encounters in dance, music and architecture
As unmistakably as the glowing Festspielhaus façade points the way in the St. Pölten night sky, dance and music lovers enjoy performances and concerts by world-renowned artists in the strikingly striped armchairs of the Großer Saal (Great Hall).
Originally conceived by architect Klaus Kada as the musical home of the Tonkünstler Orchester, the sensational theater building soon made a name for itself for more than just its brilliant acoustics. The Festspielhaus St. Pölten advanced from a concert hall in the Lower Austrian capital to an internationally renowned co-production house for the diverse forms of expression of contemporary dance. From now on, the world stars among the dancers and choreographers present their latest creations as Austrian, European or world premieres, or develop them directly on site as part of generous artist residencies.
